Attempted murder probe into Newlands shooting

A case of attempted murder has been opened following a shooting in Newlands East in Durban.

Community members, including children, had to dive for cover this morning when a group of suspects opened fire in public.
The police's Thulani Zwane says one man was hurt.
"He was allegedly approached by unknown suspects who allegedly opened fire and he was wounded."

Zwane says the man was then rushed to hospital.
"The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage - and the matter is still under investigation," Zwane said.
