The Congress of the People ( COPE) believes the National Assembly fire and the attack of Constitutional Court (ConCourt) windows are well-orchestrated attacks.

Cape Town firefighters battled the blaze at the parliament precinct for almost three days from Sunday.

The fire was officially fully contained on Wednesday when the news broke about the attack on Constitutional Court windows and doors.

Two suspects have since been arrested for both incidents.

Cope spokesperson, Dennis Bloem says the attacks seem to be well planned and well-orchestrated.

"In our view, this is a programme of action that has started in July last year when trucks and buildings in KZN and Gauteng were burned and damages worth millions of rands with more than 300 people who lost their lives,” he says.

“The country was warned in July by these terrorists that they will render the country ungovernable and cause total destruction," he adds.

Bloem says the absence of the country's intelligence services in both incidents is concerning.

"These attacks are an attack on our hard-earned democracy and must be condemned by all of us.

“We are calling upon the people of the country not to fold their arms.  We must unite and fight back to save our country from these terrorists."
