Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The Department of Arts and Culture says the arrest of well-known actor, Welcome Msomi is an extremely bitter pill to swallow.
Msomi was nabbed in connection with the theft of R8-million from the department's Living Legends Legacy Trust.
The 76-year-old, who served as a trustee of the fund, was arrested by the Hawks in Durban at the weekend.
He's due back in court next month. The department's Asanda Magaqa says they're devastated.

"Minister Nathi Mthethwa has full faith in the justice system that the law will take its course. In this regard, he wishes to thank the Hawks in successfully apprehending the suspect."
"Furthermore, the department is continuing its engagement with First National Bank because this alleged crime is not only a violation of trust - it's also tantamount to a violation of faith in the bank," Magaqa said.
