Arrests yet to be made in Senzo Meyiwa death, three years on
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Today marks three years since the death of South African goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa and his killers are still at large.
Meyiwa was shot dead during a robbery at a house on Gauteng's East Rand.
One suspect was arrested shortly afterwards - but was subsequently released due to a lack of evidence.
Meyiwa's father, Samuel Meyiwa has told Newswatch it's a difficult day for the family because it's a reminder that justice has not yet been served.
"Today is a very tough one for me because everything about that fatal day returns to haunt me. Now, we are in the third year of his death and nothing about that day has come to light. This kills my soul day by day. It would be better to know who killed Senzo but nothing is known. My heart is sore because all those wounds are open," he says.
Last month, the elderly Meyiwa cornered Fikile Mbalula during a visit to Glebelands Hostel - telling the police minister he was disappointed with the lack of progress in the investigation into his son's murder.
Meyiwa says they'll be having a two-day memorial event for his son at their home in Umlazi from tomorrow.
