Arrest made after string of Maritzburg murders

Police have made a breakthrough arrest in connection with the recent spate of murders in Pietermaritzburg.
Three elderly people have been killed at two different retirement homes on Pietermaritz Street in the last three weeks. The most recent attack was on Tuesday.
"The latest incident happened when an 89-year-old person was attacked at Jacaranda lodge. A case of murder was opened for further investigation," Zwane said.

The police's Thulani Zwane says they believe the man they have in custody is linked to all these cases.
"Our police officers made a breakthrough when they arrested a suspect believed to be involved in all these cases. We believe he's linked to all these incidents," Zwane said.
He's due in court soon.
