Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
About 40 learners have fallen sick, apparently after eating lollipops they bought at their Verulam school.
The primary school pupils got the sweets at market day stalls on Friday.
IPSS Medical Rescue says teachers became worried after the children started experiencing server abdominal pains and nausea.
The service's Keith Pillay says paramedics treated the children on scene before taking them to hospital.
"Most of them are currently stable and are being assessed. All the affected learners to surrounding clinics around the area. There is a sample that has been taken through to medical facilities as well."
