Archbishop Tutu, wife Leah vaccinated

Anti-apartheid icon and Nobel Peace Prize winner Archbishop Desmond Tutu was among the first group of elderly to get the Covid-19 vaccine in South Africa.

Phase 2 of the vaccine drive kicked off on Monday morning with health officials hoping to inoculate the vast majority of elderly population before the onset of Winter and before the third wave grips the country.

Western Cape Premier Alan Winde accompanied Tutu and his wife, Leah at the Brooklyn Chest Hospital in Cape Town.
Tutu was in high spirits on Monday.
“I’m feeling 100%,” he said to the media.

The couple both gave the vaccine drive a thumbs out as they pushed out of the hospital in wheelchairs.
