Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The Department of Cooperative Governance in KZN has appealed to members of the public to assist in their investigation into the murder of a traditional leader in Mandeni.
Induna, Henry Shandu, was gunned down at his northern KwaZulu-Natal home on Tuesday.
He was a member of the Mathonsi Mandeni Traditional Council.
It's believed he had a meeting with the suspect to discuss a land matter.
The assailant allegedly shot at Shandu as they left to inspect the land.

The department's Joseph Cubai says they are working on beefing up security.
"As a department, we are deeply saddened and concerned by these recurring incidents that continue to afflict our province despite our ongoing efforts to combat violence directed towards our traditional leaders.
"This unfortunate event took place merely a month after the tragic loss of Inkosi Khumalo and his wife, Undlunkulu maDlamini, of the Amantungwa Traditional Council.
"In collaboration with the Community Safety and Liaison department and the Office of the Premier, we are working on a comprehensive plan to enhance safety and security within the areas of Amakhosi."
