Another KZN pastor in the dock for rape
Updated | By Nothando Mkhize
KZN Social Development MEC Nonhlanhla Khoza says the department wants to see family members who hide sexual offence cases face the full might of the law.
This follows the arrest of a pastor who allegedly raped his niece in KwaMashu, north of Durban.
The 18-year-old is said to have been staying with him and her aunt for some time and that the rape incidents occurred on several occasions until the teen finally spoke up.
However, some family members attempted to sweep the matter under the carpet.
The pastor, who was arrested this week, appeared in court on Thursday.

Department spokesperson Mhlabunzima Memela confirmed the victim and her family are receiving psycho-social support.
"The matter was reported on Sunday, when she confronted some family members to report that she has been suffering abuse from the pastor. The MEC for Social Development Nonhlanhla Khoza has called for his sentence.
"Equally what is also disturbing is the fact that within the family we are told that some members who were trying to hide this incident and speaking against opening of a case, which now the MEC says even them need to be investigated by law enforcement agencies."
