Another decline in Durban business confidence
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
eThekwini has moved to reassure the business sector that it's working hard to fix infrastructure-related issues in the city.

According to the latest index by the Durban Chamber of Commerce, business confidence declined in the fourth quarter of last year.
There was a drop of almost seven index points in business leaders' trust in the local economy from the previous quarter.
The chamber's BCI highlighted the difficulties faced by the tourism industry, which's been hard hit by crumbling infrastructure and poor water quality at beaches.

The municipality says action has been taken to address the challenges which various events have caused.
Among these were the Covid pandemic, the July unrest in 2021, and the April floods.
The devastating storms that lashed the province recently have also left eThekwini with an R1.4 billion repair bill.
Officials say progress has been made in rebuilding infrastructure.
However, continuous heavy rains have prevented the completion of a number of projects and resulted in additional damage to infrastructure that had already been repaired.
