Another adjournment expected in Zuma case: Analyst

A legal expert says if Jacob Zuma has not launched an application to review the charges against him by the time his next court date rolls around, it is unlikely that he will.

The former president made his second appearance before a judge yesterday.

He is due back next month.

Zuma's lawyer, Michael Hulley says while a review application has yet to be launched, his client does still wish to pursue one.

Legal expert advocate Vishalan Naidu says it is unlikely that any review application would be finalised by the next court date.

Prosecutor, Billy Downer says the State is ready to go trial but first has to consider representations made by Zuma's co-accused - French arms manufacturer Thales this week.

“This has the potential to delay trial because, when the representations are made, the Director of Public Prosecutions would need to make a decision as to whether the charges should be withdrawn or not. A trial cannot start when representations have been made,” said Naidu.
