ANCWL wants 'swift action' on Godongwana sexual assault claims
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The ANC Women’s League has called on police not to drag their feet in the investigation into claims of sexual assault against Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana.
Spokesperson Meokgo Matuba says the sexual assault case against Godongwana, who is one of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s most senior cabinet ministers, is of “grave concern”.
“We call on the law enforcement to deal with the case swiftly and with utmost effectiveness as possible. Our country has increasingly become an unsafe place for women.
"It is unacceptable that every day there are reports of acts of gender-based violence and femicide being committed against women."

“We encourage and support all victims of gender-based violence to speak out and take necessary legal action.”
The claims against Godongwana emerged at the weekend. He is accused of sexually assaulting a woman staff member at a luxury lodge at the Kruger National Park in Skukuza.
The employee, who was offering massage services to clients, has opened a case against the minister.
