ANC’s Bongani Nyuswa to return as uMzumbe mayor
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The ANC in KZN says Bongani Nyuswa will be back in office as uMzumbe Municipality’s mayor.
This comes after an interim court order ruled against IFP member Mlungisi Ndlovu.
On Tuesday, the ANC suspended seven councillors in the South Coast municipality for attending a special council meeting on Friday to elect a new mayor.
It barred its members from taking part in the meeting, claiming it was a plot by opposition parties to oust the current mayor.

The party's Mafika Mndebele has welcomed the court ruling:
"The ANC warns all its members and all its councillors to adhere and abide by its rules and its constitution. As the movement, under the current phase of renewal, we are not going to act and act decisively on any member who finds himself acting in contrast with the constitution. Once again, we welcome the judgment and assure the people of Umzumbe that we will continue with service delivery."
