ANC scraps 109th anniversary celebrations

The ANC says plans to hold party's annual birthday celebrations next month, were scrapped after concerns -- about the country's second Covid-19 wave -- were raised by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize.

The main event was due to take place in Limpopo over the weekend of 8 January - with various events planned in other parts of the country.

The ANC's Pule Mabe says the 109th anniversary celebrations were cancelled -- after the ruling party received a briefing from Mkhize who painted a worrying picture about the second phase of the pandemic.
He says Limpopo will host the celebration in 2022.
