216 Covid-19 deaths, 8 789 new infections in SA

Two hundred and sixteen more people have lost their lives in South Africa, after they'd contracted Covid-19.

The Eastern Cape accounts for the highest number of fatalities at 97. KwaZulu-Natal's recorded 15 deaths.
The Health Ministry says over 8 700 new infections have been registered in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of those diagnosed so far to more than 930 000.

The death toll's climbed to 24 907 and the number of active cases in KZN to almost 32 000.
As far as the recoveries go, 796 000 people no longer have the virus.
