'ANC must work to retain support of majority'
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
The ANC in KZN has acknowledged that if it fails to make the necessary changes, it will no longer be the ruling party.
Bheki Ntuli, the eThekwini Regional Secretary, says they need to move swiftly to regain the support of the majority.
"There are still extreme levels of inequality in our country. You can't address those things through political power only. That is why we are saying it's economic transformation now or never. If you fail to achieve it now, the ANC will lose power in a few years to come," he says.
Senior provincial party officials have been meeting in Durban ahead of December's elective conference.

The ANC's Mdumiseni Ntuli says they will give their full support to Cyril Ramaphosa, should he be elected to lead the party.
"If comrade Cyril Ramaphosa is elected as president of the ANC, KZN will rally behind Ramaphosa. We will not go to court to challenge that," he says.
Ramaphosa and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma are seen as the leaders in the succession race, followed by ANC Treasurer-General, Zweli Mkhize and Minister Jeff Radebe.
