He appeared before the state capture commission of inquiry on Friday.

The company's former COO, Angelo Agrizzi, implicated Frolick in the misuse of state funds.

Agrizzi told the commission that Frolick was paid bribes for assisting Bosasa's CEO, Gavin Watson, in ensuring that the chairperson of the portfolio committee on Correctional Services, Vincent Smith, supports Bosassa's dealings.

At the time, Bosasa was getting negative publicity for its fraudulent contracts with the Department of Correctional Services.

"I did not receive money from Bosasa let alone monthly payments as alleged by Mr. Agrizzi. In 2014 before the general elections, I received about R25 000 from Mr. Valence Watson [Gavin Watson's brother] as a contribution towards the ANC election funds.

"At the time I served on the finance and fundraising committee of the ANC in the Eastern Cape," testified Frolick.

He admitted that he attended a meeting at Bosasa's offices once, and the discussion related to how the Correctional Services committee was allegedly being unfair to the company.

Frolick said he got to know the Watsons through one of the brothers, Cheeky, who was a rugby player and started a union in the Eastern Cape, which he joined.

He said Cheeky donated a desktop computer to his youth organisation and also bought him shoes as a birthday gift, which he declared to Parliament.

The commission went through phone records that revealed that Frolick was in contact with several other Bosasa officials.

He admitted to receiving a phone call from Papa Leshabane, who handled some of Bosasa's subsidiary companies, but said he could not remember what they talked about.

Frolick said he did not remember getting phone calls from other Bosasa executives.
