The Ministry of Police says the man arrested in connection with the murder of former ANC Youth league secretary general, Sindiso Magaqa is expected to appear in court soon.
The senior ANC member in the Harry Gwala District Municipality was arrested yesterday.
Magaqa was injured in a hail of bullets in Umzimkhulu in southern KZN in 2017. He died two months later in a Durban hospital.
The ANC's provincial spokesperson, Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu says they're still waiting for more information.

"At this point, we are unaware of the details of what is actually happening," Simelane-Zulu said.
Meanwhile, some opposition parties have already begun commenting on the arrest.
The IFP has welcomed the development.
It's also urging Minister of Police Minister, Bheki Cele to ensure that all suspects in politically motivated attacks are brought to book - irrespective of the victim's party.
