ANC KZN vow to revive local music, film industry
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The ANC's
deputy chairperson in KZN Nomagugu Simelane has been assigned by the party to
interact with local artists to revive the industry post Covid-19.
The party's provincial secretary Bheki Mtolo, in a press briefing on Friday, they are concerned about the plight of artists in the music and film industry after being restricted in recent years by lockdown regulations.
This stopped all live events, hurting the pockets of local talent.
Mtolo said Simalane will be in touch with several organisations including the KwaZulu-Natal United Music Industry Association; the Cultural and Creative Industry Federation of South Africa and the South African Music Industry Council.

"Our artists are still relying on the traditional ways of making money. These include bookings for live performances, recording contracts, licensing, marketing and distribution of their work in the country and worldwide.
"The ANC will spearhead concrete interventions that will benefit artists and reposition KZN as the cradle of creativity. The creative economy must be enhanced so that it can take the youth out of poverty."
