ANC KZN to probe Newcastle municipality's financial woes
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The KwaZulu-Natal ANC says poorly managed municipalities are going to be closely monitored, this after the Pietermaritzburg High Court ordered Eskom not to cut Newcastle's electricity supply.

Newcastle Local Municipality, which has been sitting with an accumulated electricity debt of more than R 200 million, was granted an interdict against Eskom, but not without a payment plan.

The town headed to court after the utility threatened to turn off its power supply.
Tuesday high court order stands until December, when both parties will return to court.
The ANC's Mdumiseni Ntuli says that they are trying to find out who is to blame for the municipality's financial issues.
He says there are similar problems in other municipalities.
