The commission met with Magashule on Saturday.

Magashule is out on bail of R200 000 in his criminal in which he faces 21 counts of corruption.

“Cadres of the ANC who are formally charged for corruption or other serious crimes must immediately step aside from all leadership positions in the ANC, legislatures, or other government structures pending the finalisation of their cases.

"The Officials as mandated will develop guidelines and procedures on implementation, and the next NWC meeting will review progress. In cases where this has not happened, such individuals will be instructed to step aside,” reads a report signed by chairperson George Mashamba.

The commission said Magashule indicated to them that he would abide by any decision of the party’s national executive committee (NEC), even if he does not agree with it.

“However, in the unlikely event of resistance to this , the NEC should consider suspension pending the finalisation of the criminal case against him,” the report says.

Magashule appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court in November on charges related to corruption, money laundering and fraud.

He is expected back in court in February.
