Sihle Zikalala was elected as the provincial chairperson. He was the only candidate nominated for the position.

Mike Mabuyakhulu is the province’s deputy provincial chairperson. The provincial secretary is Mdumiseni Ntuli - his deputy is Sipho Hlomuka.

Nomusa Dube-Ncube is the provincial treasurer.

The ANC’s KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Elective Conference has been marred by controversy since the Pietermartizburg High Court ruled last year that its 2015 PEC was unlawful.

The re-run was meant to be held at the University of Zululand last month, but several branches ran to the courts to have the conference interdicted at the eleventh hour.

They were successful in their bid to have the conference halted.

Meanwhile, another attempt to interdict the elective conference was struck off the roll on Thursday.

ANC president, Cyril Ramaphosa attended today's proceedings. He thanked delegates for making sure the conference was peaceful.

“The ANC in KZN has got the highest membership of the whole country and it is the most forward looking and powerful province in the ANC. As we go into  the 2019 elections, our hope and trust is the ANC in KZN. Return the ANC to where it belongs,” said Ramaphosa.
