ANC Elective Conference gets underway in Durban

It's all systems go for the Provincial Elective Conference set to get underway at the Playhouse in Durban today.
The Conference is where the party reviews its policies, votes on leaders in different constituencies and discusses issues facing the party, ahead of its elective conference in December.
Former AU chair Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Parliamentary Speaker, Baleka Mbete are expected to attend.
Speaking at a media briefing, regional secretary Nonhlanhla Gabela says hundreds of delegates have arrived.
"The conference will be attended by delegates coming from all eleven regions in the province. All branches that have passed verifications and audits will be represented by delegates in the conference to elect new leadership.
"There is about 1550 people that will be attending the conference with 972 voting delegates. We expect the conference will provide the ANC Women's League with an opportunity to deal with our strengths and weaknesses," she says.
