ANC announces mayoral candidates

Kaunda and Mzimkhulu Thobella are set to become the new mayors of eThekwini and
Msunduzi, respectively.
ANC's provincial secretary Mdumiseni Ntuli made the announcement in Durban this afternoon.

Ntuli said the ANC will nominate the current Transport MEC to wear the mayoral chain in eThekwini.
“The ANC will nominate, for the position of mayor, comrade Mxolisi Kaunda. For the position of deputy mayor, the ANC will nominate and support comrade Belinda Scott, who is the former MEC for Finance,” said Ntuli.
As for the Speaker’s role, Ntuli said the party will nominate former MEC for Social Development in the province, Weziwe Thusi.

Manila Inderjit has been nominated deputy mayor of Msunduzi while Eunice Majola is the Speaker candidate.
Kaunda and Thobella will replace Zandile Gumede and Themba Njilo who were redeployed by the party last week.
Ntuli has urged the citizens of the two cities to support the incoming leadership.
