#ZandileGumede receiving legal advice following axing as eThekwini mayor

Former eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede has spoken out for the first time since being axed from the role by the ANC.
The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal's Provincial Executive Committee announced on Tuesday that it would redeploy all party members serving on Executive Committees eThekwini and Msunduzi.
As the first woman to occupy the mayor's office at eThekwini, Gumede believes it is important that she set the record straight.
The party said the decision was based on performance.

Gumede released a statement on social media last night, in which she said she is currently receiving political and legal counsel regarding her redeployment.Gumede, who was arrested on corruption related charges in connection with a 2016 waste removal tender, says she wants to clear her name.

The now former mayor says she will not be silenced, adding that she will not allow the truth to be the first casualty in the matter.As the first woman to occupy the mayor's office at eThekwini, Gumede believes it is important that she set the record straight.
She says a public announcement can be expected soon.
