ANC to announce decision on Zandile Gumede this week

The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal says it will make an announcement on its final decision on embattled eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede this week.

This after the Provincial Executive Committee met in Durban yesterday to discuss Gumede's fate, among other issues.

The mayor was placed on special leave in May after being arrested in connection with, what the Hawks believe, was a dodgy multi-million-Rand waste removal deal in 2016.

The case has been postponed until January next year to allow for further investigations.

Gumede is out on R50-thousand bail.

ANC provincial spokesperson, Ricardo Mthembu says the party will brief the media tomorrow.

"The PEC will pronounce itself on all issues on Tuesday at 11am. The PEC is going to finalise all outstanding matters that we have communicated with the media."
