Almost 70 men in court for illegal mining, human trafficking

A large group of suspected illegal miners will line up in court in Mpumalanga province on Monday following their arrest over the weekend.
Police say the 68 men were rounded up as part of the Operation Shanela anti-crime campaign.
They say two are suspected of human trafficking, while eight face kidnapping charges.

The operation was carried out after a victim from Lesotho opened a case of kidnapping at Sabie Police Station last month.
Two firearms and ammunition were confiscated.
The suspects, aged between 19 and 54, will also have to answer to charges of contravening South Africa's immigration laws.
