Alleged Umlazi cop killer appears in court

A man accused of killing a police officer will remain behind bars after his appearance in the Umlazi Magistrate’s Court.
Siyabonga Ndawonde is alleged to have stabbed Sergeant Zithulele Gama multiple times in 2018.
KZN Hawks spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo says Ndawonde was re-arrested on Tuesday in Umlazi after being on the run for nearly three years.

"He appeared in the Umlazi Magistrate’s Court and was released on bail. During the trial, Ndawonde decided to abscond and was on the run since then.
"He briefly appeared in the Umlazi Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and was remanded in custody. The case was postponed to 25 June."
