Aid needed in #CycloneIdai rescue missions
Updated | By Bernadette Wicks
Pietermaritzburg-based NGO, Gift of the Givers is appealing for assistance with its ongoing rescue efforts in countries affected by Tropical Cyclone Idai.

"What's needed right now are boats and helicopters. Any company that can make helicopters available or provide rescue boats - we will be very grateful because the more boats and helicopters we have - the faster we are able to take people out of the water."
Their own boats earlier this week became trapped en route to the coastal Mozambican city of Beira, after the road was washed away.
There are plans in place to airlift the boats tomorrow. In the meantime, teams on the ground have been hard at work.

When Idai made landfall last Thursday, many people sought refuge in trees or on rooftops but they've now become trapped there.
Gift of the Givers founder, Dr Imtiaz Sooliman says the situation is dire.
