Accused in Moses Mabhida Stadium riot case appear briefly in court

The case against the Moses Mabhida Stadium riot accused has been adjourned until next month.

Eleven people were arrested after spectators ran amok at the stadium - following Kaizer Chiefs' loss to Free State Stars in a cup match in April. 

A lengthy police investigation has led to the arrest of 11 people on various charges - including public violence and pitch invasion. 

The suspects, who face various charges including public violence and pitch invasion, are all out on bail of R1000 bail. 

Some of the accused have also been banned from attending any sports events until the matter is finalised.

Ten of now the eleven accused made a brief appearance in the dock today - with one amongst them absent for the proceedings. 

The case had previously been adjourned for a pre-trial conference but the defence says it only received statements from the State yesterday and needs more time to peruse them. 

Therefore, the case has been adjourned for a pre-trial conference once again. 

It will be back before a magistrate next month.
