Accused in Estcourt cannibalism case dies

The Pietermaritzburg High Court has heard that one of the accused in the Estcourt cannibalism case has taken his own life.
The remaining three co-accused - Nino Mbatha, Lungisani Magubane and Khayelihle Lamula were in court today.
They've been charged with the murder of 24-year-old Zanele Hlatshwayo in Shayamoya last year.
The group was arrested after Mbatha - who's a traditional leader - allegedly went to a police station to confess to their activities.

The matter was set down for the start of trial today - but it's understood the defence needs more time to prepare.
Proceedings have been rolled over until tomorrow.
It has emerged that one of the accused, Sthembiso Sithole has died.

In the indictment before the court, the state says Sithole died in prison. It's understood he committed suicide.
