8 suspects linked to 'international drug trafficking ring' in SA court
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Eight alleged drug smugglers are set to appear at the Bellville Magistrate's Court in Cape Town on Tuesday.
They were arrested this morning after handing themselves over to the Hawks.
The police's Katlego Mogale says they were identified as members of an international drug trafficking organisation, smuggling cocaine between South Africa and Brazil.
"A bakkie, trailer, three boats and a rubber duck with a combined value of more than R18,6 million were seized. Cash that was seized from the suspect has also been forfeited to the State.

"Sixteen more targets, including an alleged kingpin who is also sought in Belgium, have been identified."
Mogale says the arrests are part of an ongoing investigation by the South African Police Service, the FBI and Australian Federal Police, that began last year.
"On 2 June 2021, a suspect driving a bakkie pulling a trailer with a boat was arrested
