5 gunned down in Western Cape taxi shooting

Police
in the Western Cape are combing the scene of a shooting in Ceres which left
five taxi operators dead.
It's understood that three gunmen opened fire on a group people at a local rank.
Four of them died on the scene, while a fifth succumb to their injuries in hospital.

Provincial Health Department spokesperson Deanna Bessick says EMS personnel who'd responded also came under attack.
"Two ambulances and a rescue vehicle was dispatched. SAPS officials were at the scene as well.
"Whilst treating the critically injured patient the EMS officials were shot at, fortunately none of them were harmed.

"The area has been declared a temporary red zone area. All EMS vehicles will be escorted by SAPS."
