45 suspects arrested in KZN political murders: Cele
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Police Minister Bheki Cele has praised the new task team investigating political murders in KwaZulu-Natal for nabbing more than 45 suspects so far.

Cele revealed the latest figures at a media briefing this morning. He said officers are continuing with their work and that more arrests are on the way.
"While we are satisfied with 49 convictions since August 2017, we are still concerned that this calibre of criminals are being granted bail.
"To this end, we are working very closely with the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster to ensure a drastic reduction in the granting of bail to these suspects. We are confident that with these interactions, we can secure more speedy convictions and lengthy sentences in such cases," Cele said.
On cash-in-transit heists, 118 incidents were recorded between April and November this year.

Cele says the figure is a decrease of 35 percent when compared to the same period last year.
He says more than 230 suspects have been arrested.
