Howick crash claims three lives

A third person has died in hospital after a car crash left two people dead near Howick.

Yesterday, Midlands EMS responded to the R617 near Mafakatini where a car lost control and rolled on the bend.
The car rolled multiple times, ejecting everyone inside.
An 8-year-old boy who is now the sole survivor was put on a ventilator in hospital yesterday.
In another incident, this morning, fifteen people including 3 children were injured on the N2 near Ballito.

IPSS Medical Rescue's Sam Meyrick says a vehicle laden with churchgoers rolled multiple times, causing injuries ranging from critical to minor, including three young children.
"Two critically injured patients were stabilised on scene and transported to a nearby hospital."
A further 9 patients with minor to moderate injuries were also transported to hospital.
