27 KZN flood victims yet to be identified - Dube-Ncube
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The bodies of at least 27 people who died in the April
floods are yet to be identified.
DNA testing to establish the victims' identities and trace their families is still under way some five months after the disaster.
KZN Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube says profiles have been generated for 12 of these people, but they haven't yet been identified.
Samples have helped link five cases while two others need to be tested again.

Dube-Ncube says while they understand the frustrations of grieving families, they are doing their best to deliver closure.
"In support of those families who have not recovered their loves ones, including those where recently we had found areas where the families could do DNA test where they are able to identify their loved ones.
“So the work, therefore, that we are confident of, that with the kind of systems that we are putting in place, we don't want to go on any whim without knowing what is happening."
