2019 general elections a watershed moment for SA: DA
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The DA says the 2019 general elections will be a defining moment for the ruling ANC.
"The DA determines that by 2019, we should see the ANC being removed from power and a DA-led coalition to be able to take the future of South Africa as we would like to see it," he said.
The opposition party’s Mmusi Maimane addressed the media in Umhlanga yesterday on the outcomes of its two-day Federal Council meeting. Maimane says they’re focusing on a post-ANC South Africa.
"2019 will define whether or not South Africa can turn around its present decline and grow to become a prosperous modern democracy that we can envisage," he said.

Maimane says South Africans should never forget the ideals of reconciliation. He made the comment while responding to questions around the party’s decision not to remove Helen Zille as Premier of the Western Cape.
Zille faced a barrage of criticism earlier this month after apologising for her controversial tweets on colonialism.
She's agreed to vacate all the party's decision making bodies. He said there can be no debate that Zille is leading the best provincial government in the country.
It doesn't matter what level in the organisation you are - everybody must account. Ultimately unlike any other political party, when people do something in the organisation they are held to account. Show me any other party that does that," he said.
