2016 school year draws to an end

Pupils across the country will be spending their last day of school for the 2016 academic year today.
The KZN Education Department says it's anticipating the release of the matric results in January.
The results of the National Senior Certificate examinations have been in decline for the past two years but officials say interventions have been put in place to see an improvement when it comes to the class of 2016.

Spokesperson Kwazi Mthethwa says Grade 12s will receive their grades on January 5.
"Today marks the end of the 2016 academic year. The MEC for Education would like to send a message of gratitude to all stakeholders that were involved in the schooling system - learners, teachers and school governing body, unions and everyone else that was involved. The MEC also sends well wishes for the new year - 2017," he said.
