20 pupils injured in separate KZN crashes

At least 20 children have been hurt in two separate crashes in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday morning.

On Pietermaritzburg's Mysore Road, 10 children travelling to school in a minibus taxi suffered moderate to critical injuries when the vehicle slammed into a tree.
"In the Durban area in Wiggins Road in Cato Manor, another ten school children on their way to school were involved in a collision," says ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.

"Ten children were treated on the scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being transported to a nearby Durban Hospital for the further care that they required.
"On the N3 Durban bound opposite the Pavillion in Westville, a ten-car pile-up accrued with one person sustaining moderate injuries. The patient was stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby Durban hospital."
