2 suspected robbers killed in separate incidents at Pinetown intersection

Two inquest dockets have been opened after two suspected robbers were shot and killed in separate incidents in Pinetown.

Both incidents happened at the Old Main and Anderson Road intersection two days apart.
The latest attempted robbery occurred on Thursday morning.
According to police, a metro police officer was waiting at the intersection when three knife-wielding men approached his stationary car.

A shot was fired and hit one of the alleged robbers. He died on the scene.
On Tuesday, another motorist found himself in a similar predicament at the same intersection.
He was approached by three men - two of whom were armed with knives.
Police say they tried to stab him and take his cellphone.
The motorist managed to grab his gun and fired at his attackers. One of them died and the others fled.
Officers are also investigating cases of attempted robbery in both incidents.
