Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife says three poachers remain on the run after a shootout at the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park.

Their two accomplices were shot dead in the gun battle with field rangers yesterday.
Ezemvelo spokesperson, Musa Mntambo, says five poachers who killed and dehorned a rhino were spotted by rangers as they were fleeing through a fence.
He says the trio escaped with the horn.
"There is no time to play, we are always on high alert. Almost everyday there are people trying to poach."

Mntambo says the number of rhinos killed by poachers is startling.
"There's been an increase in terms of rhinos poached in our game reserves because this year we have lost 132 rhinos. Last year, we lost 161 over the whole year," he said.
