#16DaysofActivism: Uyinene Mrwetyana family's - 'No amount of court justice can console us'

On 24 August, the 19-year-old University of Cape Town student visited a Claremont Post Office to collect a parcel and never returned home.
She wore a beautiful smile, embodied a strong personality and exuded positivity.
Uyinene Mrwetjyana left an indelible mark on those she encountered.

On 24 August, the 19-year-old University of Cape Town student visited a Claremont Post Office to collect a parcel and never returned home.
A day after her disappearance, a missing person's search was launched.
A few days later, search parties scoured the country for her.
Police investigations revealed, that she never made it out alive from the Post Office.

The first year media studies student was raped, beaten to death then torched before being buried in a shallow grave in Khayelitsha.
Thembelani Mrwetjyana, her uncle, says they did not think an innocent visit to a post office would lead to her death.

Three months on since Uyinene's death, her family hopes her story can help fight the scourge of violence against women.
A foundation in her name is up and running, her family says it is a symbol for what Uyinene stood for and celebrates her legacy.
