In the first 6 people were hurt when a bakkie and a taxi collided on the M4 freeway. In a second 2 people have been injured when their vehicle left the road and rolled several times before coming to a stop on Marine Drive, on the Bluff.

Also on the Bluff, in a third incident, 1 person has died while 3 were left hurt following a head on collision on the corners of Tara and Club roads around midnight. In the fourth accident 2 people died, and 3 were hurt, in a head on collision on the N2 involving a car and a taxi.

Rescue Care's Garith Jamison, says, the accidents have kept them and other emergency services busy and urges motorists to exercise extreme caution.

"Paramedics urge all people to abide by the rules of the road. Do not drink and drive, do not speed as these often result in collisions where people pass away. Paramedics responded to the accidents and transported all those injured to various hospitals in Durban" , he said.

In another accident a woman has died while another sustained injuries after their vehicle rolled over on the N2 in Amanzimtoti last night. It's unclear what caused the single vehicle accident but it's believed the driver somehow lost control at the wheel. When Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene they found she had died on impact while the second miraculously escaped with only minor injuries.

In a separate incident an 8-year-old boy has survived a traumatic experience after being dragged under a taxi in Verulam. Reports from the scene suggest the boy was hit and then dragged under the vehicle before it came to a complete halt yesterday. Emergency services treated the boy on scene before rushing him to hospital with a serious head injury. Reaction Unit SA’s Vinod Singh says the child was hysterical when they arrived at the scene.

"According to witnesses the child was stuck under the vehicle and was removed after the arrival of paramedics. He was stabilized on scene and was transported to a local hospital", he said.
