1 killed in Hammarsdale head-on crash

One person has been killed in a horrific crash in Hammarsdale, west of Durban.

A car and a minibus taxi collided head on on Mthoko Mkhize Drive (Hammarsdale Main Road) on Tuesday.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says the man, who's believed to have been in his 40s, was trapped in the wreckage.
"Paramedics assessed the man but there was nothing they could do for him and he was declared deceased on the scene."

He says four others were injured.
"Once stabilised on the scene they were transported to various Pietermaritzburg Hospitals for the further care that they required."
The scene is still active, emergency teams have warned motorists in the area to proceed with caution and expect delays.
