Metro cop killed by car on M1 near Chatsworth

A metro police officer has died after being hit by a car on the M1 near Chatsworth in the south of Durban.

Medi Response's Paul Herbst says the metro cop was struck on Friday afternoon.
"On arrival of crews, it was established that a metro police officer had been conducting duties when she was struck by a vehicle.
"Medi Response and EMRS advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise the critically injured officer, but unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries."

Earlier today, a man was shot and killed in an apparent hijacking in Amanzimtoti.
"Unknown gunmen came with a white land cruiser," says PT Alarms Security's Dheven Govindsamy.
"They hijacked a silver Mercedes. One male believed to be between 50 and 60 was shot. Paramedics declared him dead on the scene.
