On-duty eThekwini employees shot in Wyebank
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
An eThekwini employee, who was shot and wounded in Wyebank this week, says he and a colleague were in the area to sort out a power issue.
Jonna Luchai, who works for the city's electricity department, says they were attending to a complaint on Wednesday evening.
When they paused for a break, a white Toyota Corolla pulled up, and someone opened fire on them.
"Around 7 o'clock that evening, we decided to have something to eat, and we jumped into the bakkie, and we were having something to eat.

"Then the car came next to me, and he just took out the gun and started shooting, and I got hit on my elbow with one of the bullets."
Luchai, who's recovering in hospital, says he doesn't know why they were attacked but has his suspicions.
"It could have been through the strike because they want us all to join in because it is just DSW on strike, so parks joined in and the roads department and we in the electricity department have an issue with it."
