The city has obtained a court interdict against striking personnel, who belong to the South African Municipal Workers' Union.

It says the industrial action, now in its fourth day, has affected healthcare services.

Prince Cyril Zulu, Verulam, Ottawa, and Redhill clinics have had to temporarily close, and residents have been asked to visit other facilities until operations resume.

The strike also shut down garden refuse sites across the municipality.

Meanwhile, eThekwini suspended load shedding for now but acknowledged that the city is dealing with a large number of electrical faults and outages.

Striking workers are demanding salary increases, saying they're being paid less than their colleagues in other metros.

The municipality says it's working to resolve the matter.
