'This one's about you' - Sabrina Carpenter teases new song
Sabrina Carpenter's new single is about a man-child, and fans think they know who she is singing about.
Singers are known to use their music to vent out their relationships, and Sabrina Carpenter is no different.
Her fans are convinced her new single, 'Manchild', is about her ex-boyfriend, Irish actor Barry Keoghan.
The 'Espresso' hitmaker teased the song on social media this week.
"This one’s about you!" she captioned a post showing her hitchhiking in denim shorts and a cropped top.
According to the Cambridge Dictionary, a man-child is "an adult man who does not behave in the calm, serious, or sensible way that you would expect from someone of his age."
Carpenter has not shared any details about 'Manchild', but several billboards previewed the song's possible lyrics. “Hey men!,” “Amen,” and “I swear they choose me, I’m not choosing them."
Fans are already speculating about the title's meaning. They believe the track is a dig at Keoghan, whom she broke up with in December 2024.
Carpenter is no stranger to writing about previous romances in her songs.
'Taste', a single recorded for her 'Short n' Sweet' album, is reportedly about Shawn Mendes, while 'Because I Like A Boy' is allegedly about Joshua Bassett.
If 'Manchild' is about Keoghan, it won't be the first time she has referred to him in her music.
'Please, Please, Please' and 'Bed Chem' allegedly also feature lyrics about him, but they were still a couple then.
'Manchild' hints at a bitter breakup.
Carpenter hasn't confirmed who the song is about, but fans don't need any further clues.
"We owe Barry a big thank you for the song of the summer," one social media user wrote.
