Princess Charlene says she is thrilled to be reunited with her family. The royal took to Instagram to share the moment her children visited her in KwaZulu-Natal for the first time in months.

"I am so thrilled to have my family back with me. (Gabriella decided to give herself a haircut!!!). Sorry my Bella I tried my best to fix it," she captioned a snap with Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques.

Her husband, Prince Albert of Monaco, was also in the image.  According to PEOPLE magazine, their KZN family vacation began on August 20.

Charlene arrived in South Africa in May for what was meant to be a short trip. She shared several pictures from her anti-poaching mission.

"It was an absolute pleasure supporting a South African Anti Poaching unit. My sincere thanks for keeping our wildlife and rhinos safe. With all my love and respect," she wrote.

The Zimbabwean-born princess was unable to leave South Africa after suffering complications from an ear, nose, and throat surgery she underwent in Europe.

She contracted a sinus infection while in SA and needed to undergo further procedures.

Her medical team advised her to stay put until she heals. Princess Charlene was last in Monaco in January, and many speculated that she had no intention of returning.

The couple made headlines late last year after the family was rocked by another royal scandal. Prince Albert was slapped with a paternity suit after a Brazilian woman claimed he was the father of her teenage daughter.

The teen was born in 2005 -  five years after Prince Albert started dating Charlene. Many expressed concern for the princess when she debuted a daring new hairdo in December.

Many believed the half-shaven haircut was a sign that she was on the verge of a breakdown.

Despite the rumours about their marriage, Charlene made it clear that she could not wait to see her children and husband.

She shared a picture of herself hugging Prince Albert during their reunion in South Africa.

"Happy to see you healthy and reunited your Highness!" she wrote.

Prince Albert and the kids last visted Charlene in June.
