Miley Cyrus' new break-up anthem, 'Flowers', is well on its way to becoming the biggest song of 2023 - and it's only January!

The 30-year-old dropped the single - which is allegedly about her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth - on January 13.

It has broken several records since. 'Flowers' broke Spotify's all-time record for most streams in a single week. The track achieved 100-million streams in its first week of release.

No other song has achieved the feat since Spotify's inception in 2006. 'Flowers' is also the #1 song on the platform's global songs chart.

Meanwhile, Miley's fans are still trying to analyse the Easter eggs they believe she left in the 'Flowers' music video - which is currently the #1 trending video on YouTube.

Miley is yet to confirm or deny whether the song is about her ex-husband.

But the lyrics and the video seem to provide big clues. The fact that she released the single on Liam's birthday further added to the speculation.

One theory on TikTok is that the song's chorus is a personal message to Liam - who allegedly once dedicated Bruno Mars' 2013 hit, 'When I Was Your Man', to her.

Miley's 'Flowers' lyrics read:

I can buy myself flowers
Write my name in the sand
Talk to myself for hours
Say things you don't understand
I can take myself dancing
And I can hold my own hand
Yeah, I can love me better than you can

Bruno's 'When I Was Your Man' lyrics read:

I hope he buys you flowers
I hope he holds your hand
Give you all his hours
When he has the chance
Take you to every party
'Cause I remember how much you loved to dance
Do all the things I should have done
When I was your man

Other clues that the song is about Liam include a mention of their Malibu, California home that burned down in 2018.

We were good, we were gold
Kinda dream that can't be sold
We were right 'til we weren't
Built a home and watched it burn
Mm, I didn't wanna leave you

The music video provided other unconfirmed Easter eggs. Some fans are convinced that the gold Yves Saint Laurent dress Miley wears in the video is similar to one Liam's 'Hunger Games' co-star, Jennifer Lawrence, wore to one of the movie's premieres.

Jennifer admitted in an interview that she kissed Liam off-camera as well! But it is unclear if he was seeing Miley at the time as the pair had a few break-ups throughout their relationship.

Miley's new album, 'Endless Summer Vacation', drops on March 10.
